Meet “MATE”

Micro-Accelerator for Transformation and Employee Development

Why are startups so much better at quickly turning ideas into tangible results when established companies have so much more resources and know-how? One important reason is freedom of development.

Established companies usually focus on ongoing operations. Maintaining the status quo with quality assurance and cost efficiency is in the foreground. Most of the time there are idea management systems, but ideas are usually assessed very early on – without an examination of the potential of ideas at customers, etc., which is necessary for this decision.

What makes “MATE” special?

  • Ongoing business is not disrupted (implementation by employees 1 day / week)
  • Maximum “outward orientation” and expertise (external experts as coaches)
  • Suitable for every level of employees (not just high potentials)
  • Employees’ initiative is encouraged
  • Responsibility for results is encouraged
  • Real data enable better quality of decisions

With MATE, ideas get a chance to survive the first phase. Through an open evaluation of the idea potential, space is created for experimentation.

a quick start with

MATE Single (MATE-S)

Information

  • already starting with 1 idea (max. 3 participants per idea)
  • standardized process (can be started at any time)
  • no adaptation effort
  • individual support (basic)
  • 6 top expert coachings

Included services (see chart):

Guide & Free Space (3)

The MATE toolbox as a constant companion gives your staff pioneers and intrapreneurs exactly the support they need at the right time on their development journey.
The core is the guidebook, which maps a guided transformation and innovation process based on design thinking and rapid prototyping, including guidelines and checklists, such as

  • scorecards for evaluating and assessing hypotheses
  • Business Model Canvas, a development framework for business models

In addition, MATE contains a small budget (usually € 1,000) that can be flexibly used by employees and monitored by kickworkx. This gives them the necessary leeway for the flexible development of their project, as necessary small purchases (e.g. books, test website, social media advertising, material for prototypes) can be handled unbureaucratically and quickly.

Booster coaching (4)

Up to 6 booster coaching sessions: Individual consulting by external experts (boosters) with extensive experience in topics relevant for transformation and innovation projects, e.g.

  • Innovation profiling, to gain a better understanding of one’s own innovation preferences, and the resulting consequences for communication with stakeholders.
  • Design thinking, to first identify and then focus on the spectrum of possible alternative actions.
  • Storylining, to develop a powerful positioning, including a “one-sentence pitch”
  • Graphic design, to put the project/product in the right light visually as well
  • Business case check, done by an experienced project manager
  • Legal review, done by a lawyer with startup, SME or corporate experience
  • Pitch coaching, done by communication experts and peers
  • Booster Joker, an expert from our network individually adapted to the project

In the course of the 12-week kickworkx process, the idea bringers/teams have unlimited access to a local startup community and co-working space including their networks, tools, events and platforms (e.g. Impact Hub, Aula X, etc.).
